I'm getting a 10 yr old Hamilton Goldline, to replace my American changer, as I install a used LW. I currently o not have high speed internet, but will I need it with this Hamilton Goldline?
This whole thing is pretty scary. I'm using a guy, outta Austin, whom some of you recommended. Guy I bought it from said it had 28' ss rails, undercarriage, & VT. He delivered it to me, over 5 hr drive, for free. However, after he left, I later found out it was 26' rails, with NO brackets, no undercarriage, & Virtual treddle box is missing. anyways...need help on the Hamilton Goldline....

It depends if you’re using a DAN system or dial up credit card processing. If you’re using a DAN system you will need high speed internet. More than likely you’re using a dial up system, if you are you’ll need to contact Hamilton and set up a merchant account. There’s $175.00 fee to set up this account and activate your credit card system.

You do not need broadband internet service with Goldline.

However, dial-up is S-L-O-W meaning you are saddled with 30-second card processing.

Moreover, without DAN, Goldline marketing capabilities are slim like token notes.

So, upgrade (DSL, DAN, token dispenser) can cost as much as used LW.

That’s the problem with old equipment.

It may not be functionally obsolete, meaning it can still do the job, but it is usually obsolete from marketing and technical perspective.

If waiting in line isn’t an issue, as in low volume wash, and you are OK with token notes and don’t need up-sell capability, loyalty card program, special pricing, etc., Goldline will work.

I have a low volume wash, & tiny economically depressed town won't need all those hippie upgrades.

My current pay station is dial up. Can I switch to DAN, w/ new Goldline, & if so, what will that entail? $175 merchant account is insane!

If you think a $175 credit card activation fee is insane I suggest you do yourself a favor and first thing in the morning contact your real estate agent and put the car wash up for sale. It never ends tossing money at the car wash money pit, there worse than a boat.

The Hamilton Goldline is plenty fast on dialup. Running it on a D.A.N. makes it almost instant, but it only speeds it up by about 20 seconds (and it adds more fees).

You can get a D.A.N. without the touch-screen for about $3,500. Still a lot for a $400 piece of computer hardware and some fancy drivers.
