Door Ding Prevention

My wife can not seem to open her door without banging the passenger side door on my car. (Slight exaggeration). Since I can't seem get her to comprehend the basics of opening a door slowly, what is the best way to prevent the door dings? I've seen people using pool noodles suspended from the ceiling, but am concerned about the string catching on the passenger side rear view mirror. Does anyone have a good suggestion short of divorce?

I draped a piece of carpet over a 6 foot dowel. (Kids were culprits for me) I suspended 2 pieces of solid wire from the ceiling. 2 eye hook s in dowel a piece of solid wire in each . Wire from dowel attached to wire from ceiling with 2 twists only. When mirror catches it simply comes apart and I then twist back together.

Switch sides with her in the garage so her driver's door opens towards the wall instead of your car.
