I’ve just opened my IBA and would like to put operators on my doors that will wire into my control panel and operate when a customer pays and completes a wash. I have roll up, drum style doors that are 12x10 and can only be manually operated via chains.

I was quoted 2 liftmasters with a “car wash mod” that’s supposed to hold up to the wet environment, but they are quite expensive. I want to make sure that’s the best option before making that investment. Any suggestions for specific operators?

How long are these doors going to take to go up and down for every wash with those openers?

I had non-car wash style doors on my automatic for years and they were such a problem! This was a rookie mistake I made when I built the wash. it turned out to be a huge problem every winter because the doors would break down in the harsh car wash environment and disable to wash on cold days which is when you need to be open and making money.

My new car wash has airlift vinyl rollup doors with electric operators mounted on the outside of the building. They have been fabulous. Truly set it and forget it. Yes they are expensive but some things you need to spend some extra money on in order to get reliability, longevity, and that all important peace of mind.
