Drying Agents

We just started up a new IBA. It is an Isobal M12. This machine gives an amazing wash but the dry is not the best as most know.
What drying agents/wax are most of you using and see the best results with. As of now I am using Warsaw Berry Dry 570 (Heated) and Weather Shield 580. It has improved but maybe there is something better to try. I hate seeing a car pull out with water on the windshield and hood of the vehicle.

Any input would be great.

A product from Ryko called RainShield might just to do the trick. It provides the best dry quality that I've seen.

You might check the residual pH after the wash. Ideally it should be acidic rather than alkaline.

I used a carwashsuperstore label which is same as berry dry by Warsaw. It is SS7305 for $48 a 5 gallon. Works great and great smell. Been using for 5 years.

I use 580 and get good results.

How dry the car gets is a function of several other factors, such as:
* Customer control of his car
* Shape and size of the vehicle (60 seconds on a Camry = more drying than on the funeral home's stretch Caddy).

On my F-250, as an example, I pause momentarily while the dryers are at the grill then again at the vented area at the bottom of the windshield. If I don't, when I get up to about 40 mph after leaving, spotty water blows up onto the hood and windshield.

If a customers asks I tell them that the dryers are intended to remove most of ther water but they can't get it all.

If you are getting a clean surface, any major brand of drying agent/clear-coat should get the water to sheet and bead.

How much horsepower do the dryers have?

You can't go wrong with Rain-X or Double Bond it terms of a drier car and more revenue per car.

I am getting SUPER CLEAN cars. We are trying a diffrent Drying Agent and it seems to help some. Dont know the name of it. My installer put it in and wont tell me the name yet. I think its something he is making himself.

I am sad to say the HP on the dryers are a total of 22HP divided by 4 motors. Like I said this machine gives a great wash but the dryers are soso. If I had to do it again I would buy the same machine and go with the off board dryers. You cant go wrong with a Touch or TouchFree machine all rolled up in one.

watch out for oil-based DAs Winshield smearing can be a problem if they go on too heavy.

Drying is more about nozzle/impeller design rather than horse power. More HP just means spending more $ towards the electric bill.

Won't tell you the name? That means you probably don't know the properties, and/or don't have any MSDS's either. I'd tell the installer and his secret DA to take a hike. Ridiculous.

He will tell me. He just wants to mke sure it is working which it is. Its only been in for a few days and I notice a good difference in the dry. Its still not perfect but the cars are coming out dryer.

I do have and will provide Jonkush the MSDS sheets. I think you are just frustrated that you can not sell him any of your products off your truck. I not only installed the equipment but also sold it to Jonkush. I have sold and installed several of the Istobal car wash systems in S Fla. and am confident in the I chemicals I use.

Material Safety Data Sheets should be on site as chemicals are delivered. Its the whole purpose of MSDS. Not very responsible to set up a site with mystery chemicals

If you sell chemicals, you need to do it correctly. Safety is boring until someone gets hurt. A little girl died across the street from our office Monday because of a nonchalant attitude. She just swallowed some pills that spilled onto the floor. The "adults" at the party thought they knew better and did not need to call poison control. they put their finger down her throat, gave her milk and water and put her to sleep. They called the ambulance the next day at 1:00pm (when they woke up and found her dead).

In WA state, if labor & industries shows up and you can't produce the MSDS sheet on every chemical on your property, you WILL be fined.

What in the world does this have to do with a Drying Agents and MSDS Sheets. Its a shame what happened to the child no two ways about it. This has absolutly nothing to do with this. How in the world does a child ingest a drug and some one not seek help ASAP !!

I thought I would come on here and seek some help about my Car Wash but I see that was a mistake.

I own and run a Quick Lube for quite a few years and now expanded and added an IBA. In a million years I would never be so ignorant. If anyone asked or needed help it is my pleasure and honor to help them. I have done it before and will do it again and again.

By the way I did get the MSDS sheets which mean nothing. There is a lot more dangerous chemicals in the Quick Lube. When I buy a new product it never comes with the sheets its always sent a few days later including RAIN X

To be a chemical salesman and say MSDS sheets are boring is the same ignorant attitude that killed the child. Chemical burns are no joking matter. I was once burned by a missused chemical in a car wash. Dripped on to my leg and it started burning. I cut the leg of my pants to find the skin bubbling. Safety IS the MOST important issue when washing cars.

I don't sell products of any sort, and I don't have a truck. I am a carwash proprietor - not a salesman, distributor or installer. Besides, being located in New York State, I don't think I'd be driving a truck to Florida to sell drying agents!
