DVR Problem

I have a 16 channel H.264 DVR with 1 TB drive. Every 3-4 days it will lock up and quit recording and says NO HARDDRIVE on the monitor. Then I can't view it remotely and have to unplug the DVR and let it reinitialize.
Advance Security has replaced the motherboard and the hard drive for me under warranty and it still does it. Could it be interference from the motors and other electrical stuff in the equipment room that may be affecting it? Any ideas would be appreciated.

One of the easiest things to try would be a UPS to filter the power going to the DVR. I put one on a ShurVend at one location. Problem solved. The other two locations act fine without one. Another location, I had problems with a Standard bill change and a UPS took care of that too. For less than $100, it might turn out to be an easy fix.

If you do, make sure you get a UPS that also conditions the line voltage. Most just pass it straight through and only kick in to supply power during an outage.

The Ups is a great idea, One of mine had harddrive problems and by clearing out the memory a few times got it back on track , otherwise drives are cheap now- time to replace.

In addition to a UPS you could also do an automatic reboot every day at a time when you think there is nothing to record anyway. Usually my harddisks die after a year or so anyway. Cheers Justclean
