Was looking at my Cryptopay home page and saw a link regarding their partnership with Everwash to offer membership plans for self serves. Somehow I ended up down a rabbit hole poking around Everwash's site trying to find out how much of the pie they charge for this sevice. While I couldn't find what I was looking for I did notice they have an automatic calculator that figures out how much extra revenue you'll bring in by offering monthly memberships. What I noticed is it overcalculates your total revenue by about 16%. As if I wasn't skeptical enough of monthly plans. They are not backing out the pay per wash revenue of the customers they say you will convert. For example, If you fill in their calculator by saying you wash 10,000 cars/year and gross $100,000 they calculate your new revenue to be $190,000 whereas it should be $175,000. I'm sure that extra $15k would go a long way towards paying for the extra expenses from washing all those extra cars.

Fees when we tried them were 10% plus the credit card fees plus a one time fixed fee for any new member signing up. All in each month we ran about 15-18%.

I knew it was pretty damn high, that’s why I never bothered to contact them.

So how long did you ‘try’ them Roz? What did you try…self serve, auto or both? What kind of increase did it have on business?

I inherited them from the previous owner. Previous owner used them for 15 months prior to the sale and we tried them for another 15 months.
Nothing bad to say about Everwash or their people just not the right approach for us and our location.

We had customers who were abusing the system and washing their cars in all weather (rain, snow, you name it) such that we had a higher than optimal average use per customer. The only calls (complaints) I would receive were from the monthly customers when we closed the wash to do equipment service - they could not get the wash they were entitled to get.

We eliminated the program and business actually improved. The few customers who asked why we eliminated the program understood after I explained the economics to them. I still cannot understand why an IBA would do an unlimited monthly program. I changed my other wash (using ICS RFID tags) to a limited program (5 washes per month) and had no complaints other than the few people who were abusing the program - who we gladly said goodbye to. If Everwash gave us the ability to control our customer list and customize the program to our needs we would have considered staying with them however that is not their business model. The Everwash program makes sense if you have a tunnel, don't want any upfront costs, and have a large customer base (over 750+ members). We had around 150 members in Everwash and not enough who rarely used the program. I do not see any upside to giving anyone an unlimited SS bay deal unless you have well water and a septic system (IE no sewer and water costs). There are too many other loyalty programs for SS bays that make more sense - like the CryptoPay loyalty cards where we give customers up to 30% discount based on various factors.

I had almost the exact same experience. Couldn't have said it better myself. Great people, just not a fit for my IBA's.

Hi - Happy to discuss the benefits rather than going at membership alone. Regarding the calculator, most locations get back to the same single wash volume within 12-18 months. Give me a call - 215-668-3420
