If you have a PC at your wash connected to the internet.....here's an easy solution to remote control:

http://denkovi.com/usb-relay-board-four-channels-for-home-automation-v2

It takes a couple of weeks to arrive....but it works great. For less than $25, you have a device that can be controlled via the internet. You can use Remote VNC to access the computer that controls this USB device. I use it to reset my automatic washes. I am also able to toggle in a free wash if needed. Saves me trips to the wash.
Hello, Is this could work with any kind of doors?

I know on my airlift doors that are run by pdq g-5 units there is a relay box on the wall and inside there are relays for open and close for each door. Occasionally those go bad and the door opens but the relay never clicks telling the door to close. Replace the relay and it works fine again.

Just to update, I was told to try and turn down the level on the amplifier if having it all the way was causing issues. I had turned it down as a test before raising it back to max as I didn't see a difference. Today I turned it down even further than during my last test and now the red triangle does not light up and the yellow led flashes every time something passes through, just like my other sensors. Only time will tell if that ends up fixing my door randomly staying open issue.

Well, the door stayed open again just now, so it wasn't the amplifier. Is there a relay that might be getting occasionally stuck and not activating when the close signal is sent to it?

There is a relay in the amplifier. Have you swapped it with your other bay?

I have, didn't make a difference. Only 4 cars yesterday and it worked fine. Today it stayed open after the 2nd use. Very random and inconsistent.

So just for clarification, (and since you mentioned earlier that you already swapped the amplifier, but the red light remained), is the amplifier that was giving you problems originally now in the bay that worked fine? Or did you put it back in the problem bay again?

I actually swapped it back to the original bay since the problem remained. I didn't' have a single issue though in the other bay when the amplifiers were swapped. I guess I could swap them back just to see. One thing that I noticed is that when it happens, it always closes after another car washes and passes through the door. After it stayed open this morning, another car washed about two hours later and it still stayed open. Another car washed 5 minutes after that and it closed. It's been a while, but last year while I was troubleshooting, there was a time that I was on site when it stayed open and when I tried to close it manually using the button in the bay, it wouldn't respond. After about five minutes it responded and closed. The only time I have seen the button not respond is when the photo eyes were blocked by someone standing in the way. I haven't had that happen since, but I also haven't been there when it right stays open and always go afterwards.

So I just got to the wash and the door would not respond to the manual close button. I looked at the amplifier and the yellow light above the triangle was off, indicating something in the way of the sensors. I turned up the sensitivity slightly and now it's responding again. I did go ahead and swap it with another bay again just to eliminate that variable.

So if it happens again on the problem bay, it sounds like you need a transmitter or receiver. If it happens on the other bay - you need an amplifier. Sounds like you can eliminate the loop detector out of the equation now since 1. you never found one, 2. you have verified that the door won't close while the amplifier indicated a problem or something in the way. So looks like a regular old photo eye problem. If the transmitter or receiver is QC style, you could have corrosion on the pins.

I actually already replaced both the receiver and transmitter before I started messing with the amplifier. First the receiver, then when it didn't fix it, I replaced the transmitter. Used the same Carlo Gavazzi brand eyes that were there. We'll see what happens the next couple of days.

I have the opposite issue... My door often doesn't open!

It too is an airlift. I'm watching this with bated breath.

I've forced my door to stay open, but now that its freezing outside I'm getting nervous!

So far after I slightly turned the amplifier up, I don't think it has stayed open when it shouldn't. Reason for no updates is that most days since then have been in the 40's and up, so it has only closed for a few hours since and I don't have enough of a sample size to be sure if it is working properly. A couple of mornings I found the exit door open, but it was right around 40 degrees and it is very possible that it was cold when the car went in so the entrance door closed, but then it warmed up enough while the car wash washing, so the exit stayed open when the car exited about 6 minutes later. I've see that happen before, so it's possible. I did finally find my loop detector, it was inside the ER in the TF control box. If it stays open again, I was going to swap the control for the loop detector.
