Favorite equipment manufacturer?

We are in the process of beginning to design and build our first flex-serve wash and would like to hear some personal opinions on equipment manufacturers. We have had excellent customer service and advice thus far from Sonnys and are looking at Peco and some others at the show out west next week. I have heard from some that Sonnny's is considered the "General Motors" of the industry with largest market share and very easy to work on products. Is this true? How is the overall support and quality of their products? I like the stainless steel construction of Peco as we live in a beach town and salt air is a definitely something to consider.

Any thoughts on either company or other manufacturers to consider (and why) would be appreciated.

I Have Sonny's , AVW, Some Belanger and Sherman Stuff. (As I acquired places I made what they had work rather than ripping stuff out and replacing stuff. When working properly the end result differed little.

I like Sonny's and AVW Wraps for simplicity although Belangers could follow better at High Line speeds there was more tweaking involved.

AFAIAC AVW has the simplest mitters with the least moving parts, easiest to maintain and very queit operation.

Available support and parts supplies is crucial.

Your decision should be based at least a little on whether you can work on the equipment or need a distributor to service it. I think Sonny's, Peco, Belanger and MacNeil all make good equipment but if you are going to depend on a distributor for service and repair I would pick the equipment line that has the best distributor support in your area. If you can do all that yourself I would probably shop price and appearance.

No one really makes bad equipment anymore or they would be out of business. Reason for this is overall lack of equipment spending.

So, expect to hear anything to get the sale.

Otherwise, it comes down to “your” level of involvement.

If you intend to be an absent or semi-absent owner, you will need to marry a supplier and dealer and have higher costs.

If you are hands-on “all-in” with operations, maintenance and repairs, the relationship can be more platonic and have lower costs.

Also, it’s less expensive to break up with someone than it is to get a divorce.
