I was at my wash today and I hear a gas motor fire up in one of the SS bays. I went to see what was happening and discover one of the rural cities small fire trucks in the bay. It was a small 4 wheel drive version with its own tank and pump. They had been training out in some muddy area and decided that it was a good idea to use their own water and pump to clean all the mud off in my bay. I guess volunteer fire dept. must think everything is free to them. I just had to shake my head and walk away.

And if it was just clear water and mud, they could have just pulled it onto some grass anywhere and washed it...some people.

That ranks right up there with carpet cleaners thinking they can dump their stinky waste water in our pits! For free of course. I wouldn't let them even if they paid.

yeah it's amazing to me, this type of behavior. i even get small business people abusing the wash; bucket washing while customers wait, drying large vehicles while they wait etc. then when i corrected his behavior he got pi$$y and remains stand-offish. totally selfish rude behavior!

When they left of course they left all the mud in the bay for me to clean up.

While it would not be the best thing to pi$$ off the local fire department I would certainly talk to them about abusing your wash like this.

I would have been PI$$ED!!! I would have laid into them like Gunnery Sgt. Hartman in full metal Jacket. I caught a Southwest Airlines pilot in uniform blowing hay out the bed of pickup not long ago and ripped him a new one, in his face called him everything I could think of. I made him clean it up every bit of it, he wasn’t a happy boy. I don’t think he’ll ever come back.

I would go this route. Something like "While I am happy to be of service to the department, it is really not right for them to leave this mess customers / members of the community and I to deal with."

I consider mud as money and ask that they clean their mud to the drain and I give a carwash token that is worth 4 minutes for them to clean up.Never had anybody refuse.

I don't think the mud is as much the issue than the fact that they didn't even pay to make the mess. That's like carrying a picnic basket into a restaurant.
