Floejet pump

In the past four years it seems that the Flojet pumps are failing at a very high rate. I bet I am not getting 5 months tops out of them on the foam brush, I just replaced one that was only 101 days old. I do use the Vitron style. Kleen rite ask me if I use a Hydo minder, which I do. Not sure why that makes a difference. I used to get a few years out of them. I have not change soap, air pressure, water test the same for hardness ect.

They just stop pumping, sometimes if I tap on them, they will work again for a few days and the stop again. It sucks when the foam brush is out of order.

Is anyone else having this problem.

Is there a better solution that you might be using,

Water in air lines kills flojets. I use Flojet extractor dryer filtration system @ the air compressor and just before presoak and foambrush flojet going on 7 years not replaced.

Install an automatic tank drain on the compressor. Like this:

I imagine the hydrominder question would be because if you were pumping pure soap it would be too viscus for the pump and/or could cause a build up in a short period of time.

Have you taken one apart to see what's failing?(or what's in it to cause a failure, like.. rusty water..)
It's 14 screws for disassembly.

I have a refrigerant dryer at compressor, and an automatic drain valve, I will try to add the modular air filter at flojet. It is just weird I never had this issue even before I add the dryer at compressor.

I don't have any air dryers or filters on the air that is supplied to my one and only Flo-Jet pump on the Foam brush system, never have a problem with it. Why are you using a Vitron pump? All we ever have used is the Santoprene pump.

Since air cools as it expands, and cooler air holds less moisture , the moisture will condense out as the air moves away from the hot air compressor toward the flo jet. That is why it is important to have the filter / water separator as close to the flo jet as possible.

Check to make sure your refrigerated dryer is still working. One of mine had an auto drain dump that quit working and it was allowing moisture into the lines.

Vitron is what Kleen rite suggests, for harsh chemicals.

Dryer works fine. I did order a few dryers and will install right at the pump. hopefully that works. It's just weird that I never had this issue for 20 years and now the last 3-4 years I have nothing but issues.

Its possible that your compressor is the problem, or contributing anyway. I've observed that as they get older they produce more water, sometimes a lot more. Just passing along an observation, may or may not be relevant.

And No, I'm not suggesting that you run out and replace your compressor, actually Id suggest treating the symptom with filters/separators/draining as others suggested.

Agree with what others have said. I was having same issues as you. Then I installed an IR point of use filter/ water separator right before 3 flojets. That was 5 years ago, and I have not replaced one flo-jet since.

Interesting. Why do you think that happens? Maybe it runs longer because of ring blow-by?

FWIW....To minimize/reduce moisture, I lowered the cutoff PSI from 125 to 100 on my 80 gallon compressor. The head barely gets warm during a cycle and the air stays cool. It doesn't have to run nearly as long to reach 100 psi...Kick on is 80 psi...Since adjusting the pressure switch, I only have to drain the tank about once a year (get very little water out of the tank) and hardly get any moisture in the water seperator...Also drain it when I drain the tank. Flojets on PS and FB last many years! Since the highest pressure I need is 60psi, the compressor works great at this setting, not to mention a lot less wear and tear.

An aftercooler will condense the moisture, and give you dry air.

I manually drain my compressor 6 days/ week through the ball valve at the bottom of the tank and also through the ARO water separator on the main air outlet.

I have replaced maybe one flojet in almost 20 years.

My compressor has a automatic drain that fires every 45 minutes. Even after running the air through an ARO water separator, I would still get icing in my ARO pumps.

The aforementioned aftercooler was what was finally needed to eliminate moisture from the air lines.
