Foam Brush Hose replacement

I'm getting ready to replace all of my foam brush hoses. I always used a 3/8 low pressure hose, however, I see "coil type" hoses available for the Foam Brush.

They are more expensive. Are they any better? What size?

If you have a boom, highly recommend NOT to get the coil hoses.

Coil hoses are a pain, we only use them when we absolutely have to - ie no boom. we prefer the straight hoses when a boom is available

I have a boom and was using 15' straight 3/8" hoses. But they didn't reach the longer vehicles, and the cusomers were yanking on the hoses. So, I bought longer straight hoses to reach longer vehicles, but then they were dragging on the ground (tripping hazard). A few years ago, I switched to the 25' coil hoses 3/8" to prevent the boom from being pulled out of the wall. Overall, I prefer the coil hoses and so do my customers. PROS: Lightweight, less hose slap, longer reach. CONS: The quality of my thick foamy soap tanked and I spent a lot of time adjusting the liquid & air to compensate for the coil hosing. I suspect the air bubbles were preventing the liquid from getting through the coil design. Every day, I have to re-coil the hoses - like the old telephone cord. Overall, customers like them better than the old 15' straight hoses. I like the look, function and they don't drag on the ground!

We also use 3/8" coil hoses but on a 360 ceiling boom. They do get twisted up some but not too bad. We have swivels at both ends and I think that helps. I'm guessing that the ones that hate them had the smaller 1/4" diameter.

I was advised to use single wire braid 3/8" hoses when I too over a SS because it would not kink and stop the weep as other hose might. Never looked back

Slightly off topic but, Kimberly, I see you have the same booms that I do. I don't know the manufacturer. I need to replace several "round bumpers" on the end of the boom. Do you know the item, and where to source?

I was buying the rubber bumpers from a local car wash supplier, but they were getting expensive, while the rubber quality was going down. I couldn't find the same ones from Kleen-Rite. I did some research and found an unlikely alternative... rubber feet for stereo speaker cabinets on eBay! They're made of solid rubber, with an internal metal washer for better rigidity! Quick search this morning and you can buy 8 for $15.

I installed mine about 10 years ago, and they're holding up very well in the bays!

Other option is to mount rubber door stopper/bumper onto the wall where the boom rests, that works well also.

I tried coiled hoses on my PS/TF guns...Same as would be for FB....I had trouble with the hoses freezing in the winter, even though I have a blowdown and Washer Fluid Injection system. A coiled hose has about 50' of length to it. When the hose is freezing cold (after it was freeze protected) and someone used either PS or TF, the chemical would freeze before reaching the end of the 50' of hose. Replacing it with standard 3/8" Goodyear air hose fixed the issue. And the Good Year hose lasts for years. Not to mention the amount of times I had to untangle the coiled hoses. Just wasn't worth it to me in too many ways.

A friend game me one of these hoses to try and I plan to replace all my high pressure and foam brush hoses with these….

12 foot, (multiple lengths available) $20 on kleenrite….

they don’t kink up, and seem to be lighter weight…. I’ll put swivels on both ends!

I tried the Uber Propulse hoses in 2019 and they twisted horribly! Although they're 4000 psi, they don't have the weight & rigidity of the steel-braided Continental hoses. I had a swivel at the HP nozzle. Went back to using the Continental ones. I like to try new things... sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. This one was a failure!
