Years ago I participated in the Nielsen TV ratings survey. I think they sent me a buck for tracking my viewing habits for a week in their little booklet. Recently, I have gotten several phone calls from them. Being the call screener that I am, I didn't answer them. I think I slipped up and answered once and just hung up. I just didn't want to fool with their survey. I'm online now and have better ways to waste my time. Well, while checking my snail mail today, whad'ya know a packet from them. I took it to the shredder along with the other useless crap. I almost ran it through without opening it, but thought maybe it was too thick and would choke the shredder. Much to my surprise, there was 5 brand new $1 bills in all that crap.

Thanks Nielsen, for tomorrow's lunch. And no, I don't feel guilty at all for shredding the rest of the stuff.

Be careful of whats lurking behind those crisp new $1 dollar bills. Recently I swallowed the bait for a free 30 days supply of Insomnipure....A sleep aid for my wife. All I had to do is pay shipping, $2.99....Two weeks later there was a $79.00 charge on my CC I didn't recognize. I found out that by recieving the "Free" stuff, it allowed them to sign me up to a subscription where they send me monthly supplies for $79 a month...What an ordeal to get that all resolved.

IB is safe, but its usually best to avoid free stuff, there is always something that rarely makes it worth it. When they ask for the credit card number, you can bet you will be screwed without the kiss.

Just a heads up ... don't rely on your government consumer fraud divisions too heavily after you trusted some outfits. Sometimes that can be a significant waste of time ending up with an eventual response from a "less than worthy" supervisor pointing to some pathetic hidden legalese on the company's website.

EverBank of NY

Everbank of NY, cost me $20K+ and when I hired a lawyer in NY to handle it, his statement was "I haven't read all of their "contract, but I'll bet that they can do whatever they want". "But, I'll spend whatever money you want me to spend".

You need to take care of yourself and expecting ANY government agency to do anything much less what they are suppose to do, you are dreaming. Look at the recent scandals, GSA, Secret Service, Fanny-Mae, Freddie-Mac. They are just pi$$ing off as much of your money as they can.
