I have noticed the last few days that the vacs were unoccupied at the wash I drive past every day. I noticed today that the free vacs sign is gone too. I guess they got tired of the promotion.

Thanks Jimmy, I'm curious how is this wash offering the free vacs? Are they or were they just installing a sticker over there canister vacuums?

I don't know how they physically made them free. They advertised free vacs on their reader board until very recently.

Let us know how it works. I can't imagine me Driving to a wash just because of free vacs. I know i would pick a wash for some other reason. Easy access, or convenience

Yes my ideas always seem better in the late night..I was thinking more of a capture rate than customers driving across town for free vacs.

How have things been going with your competition offerring free vacs? My competiton, 100 yards from me, just did the same thing this month.

Jeff, for starters I do not regret installing the free vac station. I felt that I had to do it to keep up with the competition. These new washes that think there going to take us out are underestimating the fact that we will counter all there great offers to the public just to get on the same playing field then as you know we all lose out in the end. When will we all learn and come together and raise the bar?
Vacs are working..I have some new customers and I have customers that have returned and explained to me that it was the Free Vacs that swayed them away from me and have now returned. I was lucking that I was able to raise my SS .25 cents as not one customer complained and I still collect about $200-$250 a month from the existing pay canister vacs that are still in place for after hours. As you know its a big cost to do the yellow arch stations but for me I actually fabricated all the arches and piping myself so I was able to cut the cost in half of what a distributer would have charged.
You can see my set up "tylercarwash.com"
So to answer your question...Yes it is working out well for me

I like where you placed the free vacs. It's an eye catcher for passing traffic, nice colors. I come to the Chicago area every now and then, specifically to Lisle. I'll swing by the next time I'm in town.
