Have two Laser wash 4000, both over twenty years old. Am having intermittent impact switch, and motor run ons, is anyone else having or heard of these problems before? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you very much.

This is probably not what you want to hear. Have you given any thoughts about maybe replacing your worn out 20 plus year old Laser wash 4000's. Yes I've heard of those problems, we had them all at one time or the other with the Laser 4000.

I concur with Randy. I had a used LW4000, worked great for yrs...then lots of issues started happening. Got a refurbed LW, then Sold wash, & bought different wash & installed new stuff

Impact could be the sensor on the arm...motor run on could be low tire pressure or rollers need replacing. Worst case scenario would be a bad festoon cable. Your problems are just starting

You could definitely open up a can of worms if your not very familiar with the lw4000 .actually costing you more money.

Why not reinvest in new technology at this point? A 20 year old machine has paid for itself at least 15 times! Do the math.

I'm at 15 years and the time has come. Think of increased throughput at a higher price point. More net profit. Less down time. Less repairs to schedule, perform and pay for. Less customer complaints. And remember the very important aspect of a new equipment purchase; you're not really paying for it; your customers are.

I'm replacing a worn out Ryko Touchless. Dis great for 15 yrs, but past year has been a PITA. Replacing as we speak, w/ a new Razor XR7. $90k installed!!

Remember the all important tax advantages of writing it off in a yr or stretch it out over 7 yrs, which is what I'm doing.
WaxMan's 2nd paragraph lists all the advantages, except the tax breaks!

Geez guys, help the man fix his machine. He knows it's old. A 20 year old car wash can be fixed just like a 2 year old one. He might have a low volume wash that does 10 cars a day and can never justify a 150K new machine to wash those same 10 cars. People have 20 year old cars repaired every day, so why can't you give the guy some help other than emptying his wallet?

I now live in a town of about 1K. The only wash is an ancient oval track Hydro-Spray (I think). It won't wash my crew cab F-250. I'd like to see them put something else in there so I can use it, but realistically I know it can't pencil out.

It was an OHD US2001. ir may use same pump. We kept the nearly new Ultrasonics. Maybe couple other nice newish items. Not surenif we still have the pump. I will check. PM me for my cell # & info.

concur on low volume being a big factor in not going out and buying new IBAs...lots of smaller volume sites would love to be able to buy new...but it's not financially feasible for many small town sites.

We're still running an SEC Futura with low volume in a County of 29,000; county has 3 pop centers; being located in the highest POP town of 13,000 and this town has 8 IBAs scraping by). Traffic counts are just low.

Next County over has a population of 3,000, and it's only town (2,500) has a Futura and it just sits un repaired...they have even lower volume of course.

Motor run-on errors could just be a flat tire... Impact switches could be trailer hitches. Will need more info to provide any meaningful help.
