recently I have had a couple calls (yes, have my personal cell phone taped to the auto cashier, still a noob) Anyway the written instructions from D&S say to deposit money and pick a wash. the vocal direction from the lady inside the goldline says "please make a wash selection and enter your method of payment". the recent calls were from people who had put in 5.00 toward an intended 7 dollar wash puchase and the goldlines turns on the 5.00 wash before the customer made a wash selection (following written instructions printed on the menu that came with he machine from D&S). I assume a prior user "selected" the 5.00 wash and left without completing the transaction and the next customer starts putting in money till the cashier collects 5.00 and then starts the wash. I don't remember making this selection when programming the goldline but is there a setting to allow upgrades after you start paying? Also there have been several times my wife or I arrive at the wash and the entrance green light is flashing, we drive in and the carwash starts so someone didn't get what they paid for. not sure if related.

I have never seen a Goldline do that, but I would assume it's a setting in the programming. I checked Hamilton's site and couldn't find a manual for it, but they'll send you one. If it's not a setting and it turns out it's from someone selecting a wash, you might need to mod it somehow to time out and clear it after a few minutes.

The latter problem could be someone trying to get change but it's just selecting the $5 wash instead. I'm surprised you aren't finding it hung up with a "BAY IN USE" message.

I have a D&S with a gold line and I have never had that issue. Have you verified that you don’t have a sticking button or a bad button. Have you determined if it only happens on the $5 wash?

Today the wash was clear I put in 5.00 and hesitated a couple minutes like I was fumbling for a good dollar bill, after a short time, the voice thanked me for the wash purchase and turned on the green light. when I put the next 1.00 in is showed credit 1.00, which it refunded in quarters when I hit the red button. I went ahead and drove in and got a 5.00 wash. You can select any wash on credit card so all the buttons do work, but you cannot swipe the card until you select your wash. I think I remember a parameter for purchase required, in other words you must pick a wash not just put in 5.00 change your mind and get quarters and I think that I did turn that on some time back, so I'm thinking that could be it. I appreciate the input. I do have a manual somewhere that I downloaded a while back, just need to remember what I did with it!

Ok, for the benefit of others that may view this in the future: I found the digital copy of the goldline manual stored on this very computer, and found that there is an auto select delay feature which sets how long the goldline will give the customer to add more money, once this time limit is satisfied, the goldline activates the best wash that the amount of money deposited will cover. I bet it set to something like 5 seconds. I will increase this parameter next time I go and post here for posterity. It has likely happened on 5 because people tend to put the larger bill in first. This feature has likely also caused the calls from customers who used it as a changer. I know it used to give change (almost) anytime before you selected a wash, but I changed the controller out last fall when the original controllers battery died and never changed it back... I bet it changed then.

Can you turn off that auto select completely?

It's been a few years since I've messed with a Goldline, but IIRC if it's still the factory CC system on it you should be able to swipe your card and then select a wash. I've noticed most customers will do it that way.

running cryptopay on it now. looks like auto select can be set from 0 to 999 seconds after last customer input.
