Some guy took a crowbar to my front door and got inside last night. I have them on video but we will see if that helps. They (man and a woman) came in and took all of the quarters out of the changer, luckily I always leave it unlocked. They left all of the bills and even left the currency that I use for change that is 2.5 feet from the changer. Geniuses I tell you!

Jimmy, sorry to here of your break in. Many years ago I realized that crooks that do B&E's are a members of the not so smart club. If they were smart they would be working in the financial industry where theft happens every day.

Sorry yo hear that also, our little town has had 6 armed robberies in six weeks, police caught two that maybe did 3 of them. One was just 2 blocks from the wash at a convenience store. I had crowbar guy get in once, and he was able to peel the door back and get in like a mouse. I switched over to a more solid steel door with Medeco deadbolts, and Lock guard so that they can't take a sawzall after the deadblts shaft. I think i have been more trouble free after switching to $1 token coins also, which also had the effect of increasing business. Post the pics you have at the wash- some one may recognize them.

Beef up the door. It seems like these jag-offs always try for another shot after they've had some success. I'm afraid I'd get in more trouble than them if I were ever to catch them in the act. Six in the clip and one in the chamber.

I put a piece of steel on the door that will keep them from peeling it back from now on I hope. I'm having trouble saving and playing back the video from my dvr. I really have not had time yet to go through all of the cameras to see if I have any shots of the vehicle. It's been a crazy week.
Sudzie I appreciate the sentiment about the robbery. It turns out that I work in the finance industry though so we may not be on the same page there.

We had difficulties the first time we tried getting video off our DVR too. We were trying to download too much to an external hard drive and it kept bombing out. What we found that worked best was to see what channel the video was on and the exact time it was recorded. When you do your backup, record ONLY that channel and the exact time of day the incident took place. Maybe include a minute before and a minute after. That way it keeps the filesize to a minumum and the data gets transfered quicker. If you have multiple camera's you want to record, only back them up one at a time. Hope that helps....

I beefed up our ER door too. I'll try to get a pic and post this evening how I did mine. Do you have camera's in the open and do you have it posted about your camera's?

Oh BTW...If your DVR is like mine, you'll need a special Codec installed on your PC to view the file. Might be what your problem is?

I think he rested his head on the sign that informed him that he was being recorded. He was actually driving a pretty nice car that I have some pretty good shots of. I'm going to ask my neighbor from the used car lot next door to id the car tomorrow. I'm sure he will be able to.
I suspect the lack of a "codec" is my playback problem. Unfortunately I don't know what a "codec" is. What to I need? It says something like mcplayer in my manual. The thumb drive shows files on it but only plays a still picture.

My DVR requires the Imm-4 Codec installed on my pc in order for the video to play....Your manual should tell you what you need. A simple search online will point you in the right direction for the download and install.

Heres what I did to my door to make it a bit more secure. I have a "Carbide" lock for it, but need to get it installed...

Another idea is to add "pins" on the hinge side that go from the frame into the door, so that if they cut off the hinges, they still can't pull the door out.

I also added a vibration detector, so any attack on the door triggers the alarm.

jimmy, you mentione3d cameras, but what about an alarm?
