Hello,
I just took over another old self serve location, and this one has block walls, which have never been painted. I have one bay which has a a bunch of graffiti that I need to take care of. I am hoping to find a way to clean this wall, rather than just painting over it.
The second part of my question, would be if I do decide to just paint the bay walls, what type of prep and primer etc.. is needed to get the block ready for paint?
Any advise would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
John T.

I have used a high pressure rotating zero degree nozzle attached to my high pressure guns. works pretty good. Do not use a zero degree straight nozzle it with cut into the block and look like grafitti.

A good paint stripper should weaken it and allow you to remove it with normal bay pressure. I would definitely avoid painting, but there are a number of durable products you could use to cover it.

I have used a product from Grainger called Amnesty. It is an aerosol product and might remove the actual paint from the wall if left on too long. It has worked great for me on things like signs, walls, stainless, etc. Good Luck!

I have got some cleaner from the Minneapolis Fire Department free of charge. It was developed just for this reason. It worked wonderfull, with very little effort. Call your local city or fire department and see what they might have. The city loves it when we clean that crap up.

In a pinch, oven cleaner works quite well.
