Down the road about 1 mile a sort of neglected Carwash, 1 Tunnel Wash, 4 SS Bays, I think they purchased it August or September, they fixed it up, gave it a paint job.

They are now for the third time advertising out front and on there changeable sign 1/2 price on the SS bays.

I have been in my location close to 25 years and have never ran the SS bays at 1/2 price for any period of time.

Last time they ran that price for a month.

I think it is a dumb idea, and I believe it could possibly ruin his business in the long run, there are 4 SS carwash’s within probably a 5-6 mile stretch on this same road.

It does not seem to affect my business, in fact they gave away free SS Carwashes One weekend and it was a normal weekend for me.

What do you guys think?

I had a wash who done that all the time so I bought it to get rid of him. The customer thought is if you are making money at half price you are getting rich at you regular price.I have found that you can't buy you competion because someone will just keep on building them. I wish Kevin Costner had his field of dreams up his a--!

Have you ever gone by and checked how much time they give? They might be doing half the startup price but also halving the time and not really giving any sort of real discount at all.

The closest two washes to us are $1 for two minutes. I think the majority of their regular customers just see that they're cheaper to start - I get lots of our customers telling me that "the time just runs out so fast over there." The smart ones can tell they're getting better value for their money, which is likely why your "half-price" competition isn't hurting you.

They are 3min.

I'm $2.00 for 4 min.

But this guy just recently talked about raising his price to $2.50, so how you going to do that when your sellin' it for a buck? I think his going to hurt himself.
