Went to the wash this evening, figured I'd run my car through the old D&S 5000 to check it out. The Hamilton Goldline was acting goofy, using wrong prices, lost all audit trails, etc. After a lengthly trial and error reprogramming session, it is back up. Any ideas what may have caused it to loose its mind? Its been very reliable since we put the autmatic back on line last October. It had been down 4 years prior to that.

That was my initial thought but I find no reference to a battery in the manual, Also, the manual says it should display a message if the data is corrumpted and shut down, it was still saying welcome, select a wash, just the prices and washes were all messed up and the date was gone. If there is a battery, anyone know where it is?

What concerns me most is it lost the perpetual data. Its like the machine was born yesterday, except a lot of the defaults were there, they must be burned in on a chip.

Are you using Cryptopay? It could be to controller is going bad. The battery pack is inside the controller, it holds the memory of th controller. You can't service or replace the battery pack yourself. It's soldered to the main board in the controller. The only thing you can do is send in the controller and have it replaced, if it is the controller. When the battery pack goes bad it will say on the display "Memory Data Altered" I have a controller I rent out.

Yes cryptopay. No Memory Data Altered message but it was altered. We have had a lot of weather lately. maybe lightening. I had a 220v breaker on my RO unit trip a couple days ago, reset with no further problem, don't know what happened there either.

You know I'm seeing an interesting pattern here because I have a similar scenario going on at my Automatic as Well. But I'm running a LW4000.

back to the site last night. Program held. killed the breaker to the goldline and turned it back on, programming held. Guess I may never know what happened but everything was lost. Date, audits, even the non resettable balances. all zeroed out. Oh well... just another day running an old car wash...

FWIW....I had a non-resettable counter in the "total vending" auditing section that went beserk. It said the cash amount totaled something in the MILLIONS. It can't be reset. I never figured out how only one data point went that crazy.

Kind of sounds like it’s either starting to have a battery go bad for the memory, or the controller might be starting to go.
