Have others noticed so few WW Razor Issues

I peruse the in bay automatics section often and it recently occurred to me how few operators using Wash World Razors are posting problems with their machines. Having had mine two years I know why. During my ownership, I've had almost no issues. The machine is a workhorse. I couldn't be happier.

I previously owned a gantry style machine I bought new and operated for seven years. Some days I would make two or three trips a day to resolve intermittent problems. It's such a relief leaving the car wash knowing there is little chance I'll have to return on a service call.

it's nice to have a reliable machine. mine has been working great, too ( different brand than yours). i almost bought a gantry style and am glad i did not.

Sounds like gantry style iba's could be a bit more trouble. I have been shopping out Autec, Ryko soft gloss, and Pdq tandem. So many differences but I guess if gantry spells trouble, maybe I should be focusing on ww and pdq. (all of which have good service techs in my area)

We put in a tandem 2 years ago or so. Great machine. But if you are looking at touchless, I'd go with ww all day long.

I'm still in the planning stages for my 2 bay (I have a tendency to over research) but I'm certain at this point I'm doing one soft touch and one touch free. It comes down to quality reliability and price. I'm going to the show in Nashville where I hope to gather my final decisions.

what's goin rate of a new WW Razor? What features on it do you really like, & does it have cost saving features?

I'm still in the planning stages for my 2 bay (I have a tendency to over research) but I'm certain at this point I'm doing one soft touch and one touch free. It comes down to quality reliability and price. I'm going to the show in Nashville where I hope to gather my final decisions.

I used to have a gantry, now I have a razor. I had constant problems with the gantry. Drive wheels slipping, junk blowing out of the back of pickups landing on the track, cans on floor tripping prox switches at wrong time. Plus with the gantry its a real gamble drilling holes in the floor to mount the rails hoping you don't drill into the floorheat.

As far as features. I can't remember if the flex pass is an upgrade, but if it is I wouldn't buy it again. My customers always complained and said it only washed one side of their car when I tried using the flex pass. Even though you know it washed both sides of their car, but you can't convince them. I don't use the flex pass for anything anymore. It doesn't have the best coverage anyways.

I'm not knocking all gantry machines, just the one I had and I'm not going to identify them here. PM me for that. My gantry style machine cleaned well but was too slow, expensive to keep running and broke down way too often.

washes 25% faster, uses less water, virtual attendant reduces service calls, remote control to move carriage and trolley, high speed internet option allows me to control almost everything from home computer. Check your distributor for price - depends on options

The flex pass would be good for rain x. I just had several customers that said it only did one side of their car when I used the flex pass because they were used to the machine doing a full circle around their car. The flex pass pods and arch across the top are all Tee'd together so I know if it came out one side it came out all sides.

As far as speed, I did more cars per hour with my old gantry than my razor does. The gantry washed both sides of the car at once where the razor only can do one side at a time.

My gantry machine jumped off the rails last week because some idiot decided to park sideways inside the wash bay.
Took me 2hrs to put it back on. Will the gantry stop if someone gets out of the car and gets between the gantry and the rail (I had that before)?

There are some advantages to getting both machines from the same company - like a WW razor and profile. Some parts may be used on both, so having one in stock can give you a back up for two machines. If you get a good distributor, you are dealing with the same person for both machines. You may be able to get a bit of a discount with a double purchase - I've known operators who have gotten a better deal and their quotes lowered because they are purchasing more than one machine from the distributor.

You'll probably also see similarities in design and maintenance procedures that will lower the learning curve of both machines for you.

washnshine makes a good point about sticking with one distributor for both machines.
We installed a Laserwash and an Icon from PDQ almost 2 years ago. Even though the machines are very different, they have some similarities in programming, some interchangeable parts and we use the same distributor for both.

I agree with the Razor comments. I have had my over two years and no problems yet. Especially with the flex pass installed, both sides of the car can get spotfree and other treatments. Much faster than my gantry washes and the Laser wash it replaced. Customer service is great for questions also.
