I have been upgrading an older wash for 18 months now and keep finding things I never paid much attention to. I was cleaning the bays recently and kept getting annoyed at the booms because they didn’t always spin easily and kept making squeaking noises. So I got the replacement plastic bushings (thank you Dan), rented scaffolding, and hired a helper. You can’t imagine the fun of taking something apart that has been in operation for 18 years working overhead. What a difference though. They spin freely and don’t squeal anymore. I doubt that any customer will come up and say how nice they work now, but I think it’s one of those things you notice going into any business. If it works nicely you are likely to come back.

That is very true. I just completely remodeled a 7 bay ss and 1 iba due to 2 hurricanes and I can count on one hand the customers that have actually said something. But in my mind I know it's top notch and it feels great to have a fresh new look. Trust me they notice but you may never hear it. Just keep doing upgrades you deem necessary and they will keep coming.
