High Pressure Solenoid Valve reccomendations?

As many know I am a big fan of the Viper shine unit becasue there are no moving parts.

I have always felt this system could be adapted for high pressure wheel cleaning.

The unit has 5 pairs of solenoid valves. Each valve on each side supplies 2 nozzles. Each pair is triggered by a floor switch which is also controlled by a PLC which regulates the "On Time" for each valve.

Now, if somewhow High Pressure solenoid valves could be substituted and plumbed with HP hose with a change in nozzle configuration it could be a "Traveling" wheel blaster with no moving parts.

The problems are:

1. Pressure slamming into the solenoids blowing them out.
2. A tunnel doing 100K cars a year would need valves with a 200K duty cycle to last a year. Even, then 10 valves at $100+ each is a lot to replace each year.
3. Wear and tear on the pumps with the pressure changes.

My thought was to have at least one pair of Nozzles always on or perhaps use a normaly open pair at the front with 4 NC pairs. The NO pair would get juice and close as each NC pair got juice and opened. Or, perhaps 5 pairs of NC with one NO that dumps back to the supply tank until a NC gets juice which would also go to the NO solenoid and close it.

Any thoughts guys? Valve suggestions?

Earl, kleen rite has a high pressure solenoid valve that I have used with good results and long lasting. Part no SOD458P24. It is also available with a 120vac coil.

Both of the above max at 1200 PSI which I think is a little low for the usage. I think the valve needs to be "Over Spec'd at about 2000PSI for durability.

We use an air actuated ball valve for our high pressure (800 psi), valves need to be rebuilt after 100,000 cars. made by Valtorc valves (systematic control), of Atlanta, GA.

Would using a soft start on the pump help relieve some of the slamming you were talking about?

No, the system uses a series of 5 floor monted tapeswitches, each triggering a pair of solenoid valves. Opposing ones on passenger and Driver side.

Each opens as the tire activates it. The Viper shine PLC controls the "On Time" so no tunnel controller functions are needed. The issue is one one pair would close and the next opens.
