While there most likely aren't too many tree huggers that visit this site, I highly recommend you read this article by Dennis Prager.

It will give you a lot of ammo (Oh my God. Can I still say ammo?) when talking to tree huggers. Good reading.

Funny because we're in one of the most environmentally friendly industries I could think of.

Just depends on your viewpoint. Half full or half empty? Think about what Prager brought up though. The theory of unintended consequences. For instance the tree huggers have mandated the fuel milage of vehicles. This has resulted in many more smaller cars on the road. Internal combustion engines is a relatively mature technology. The easiest way to better milage is to make the cars smaller. I see some on the interstate that look like golf carts with doors and a roof. Now what happens when you get in a little fender bender? Oops, major damage. What happens when you hit stuff at interstate speeds? It ain't pretty. Search you tube and you will see many examples of our environmental conscious advocates getting transported to flatland.
