installed in 1982 -heavy use cat pumps 620/23 pumps are just starting to be replaced, after 38 years in use some of our cat pumps are finally due for replacement, over haul period was about 5 years per pump. 38 years in service. no wonder cat has 9 lives, they are being replaced with new 623 pumps, one good pump

Just a thought ... because there are some extremely compelling alternatives such as "Arimitsu Pumps" the odds are pretty good that "Cat Quality" will continue.

I've seen 50 year old 623 pumps clacking away at a busy location.

I just rehabbed a wash that had the original 620's in them from early 1970's so thats almost 50 yrs.

I have 7 CAT 623 units in service that were installed in 1974. I have no intentions of replacing, as they work just fine. I just did have one of the Sterling 3 hp motors burn up, though.

I've been running mostly Cat 623 pumps for years. They are great pumps!

I purchased a busy 3 bay wash in 2005 with 620's . They've been in service since 1971.
The previous owner performed a reseal service in 2004 just before the sale, and I finally replaced them last week with 310's.
After tearing down the worst looking one, it looks so good it deserves a reseal kit and the chance for another 50 years of service.
My experience with the two pumps is: the 620 needs a pulsation dampener about every 4 years and my Cat 310's need a reseal kit about every 4 years. Since both parts cost about the same, it's a wash.

620 /623 we have seen a 30 + years of service closer to 40 years life span ( we have close to 25 pumps in service), after a couple years of use we replace inlet seals/cups as they are a ware item, pulsation dampers are a rare replacement when compared to inlet seals/cups. when we hear a cavation sound we know its time for pump seal replacement. these pumps do talk to you if you listen to the running sound. if not serviced they will developed major cavation/pulseing and go into failure mode at the worst time (saturday), we see about 400 hrs of pump use between top end overhauls
