How much below the swiper do you need for pass though with the CC, I watched their video and they said 1 inch below the bottom of the swiper? Its a little confusing, Seems you would need the length of the CC which is 3-1/4” plus 1 inch below that, so if you had 4-1/4 below the swiper you would be ok? Im just wondering how much room below the swiper you would need, I would think more is better? I have about 3” below the bottom of the swiper, would that be enough room?

the reader is close to the center so once half the card is past the bottom, it has all been past the reader head, but having just a couple inches may make it awkward for the customer.

The read head is in the center of the reader. I've seen readers mounted very close to the bottom and it works, but I don't like making customers (mainly the ones who think they have to whack the card through as fast as they can) bang their card on the bottom of the box. I've always tried to have room for the card plus an inch or so under the reader just to make it easier. 3" is enough room for it to work, but if that's all you leave you'll soon see a wear mark on the stainless box.

For my Vacs I put a couple of lexan pieces the same size as the swiper base drilled for the swiper screws (I think I needed some longer screws which I got at HD,) and wires so it stands out from the lip of the box and the card passes in front of the lip as they swipe.

Saw this from an older post:
I noticed the credit cards were scarring my meter box decal. I stopped by a luxury car dealer and got some scraps of a clear plastic they apply to the front ends and hoods of cars to repel rock chips. You can have it put on your car for $1000 but they were nice enough to give me a piece. I cut pieces to fit where the cards were exiting the swiper.
