I get the message that my database is locked whenever I try to run my swipe n clean software. I have had this happen before and with a call to JC, they were able to login and fix it. He explained to me how to fix it last time, but I was driving and completely forgot. This unit uses the access database instead of MS Sql. I have been told to delete the .ldb file, but don't have one. Anyone know how to get the database unlocked? Thanks.

Slash007,

Just thinking out loud, & having the developer version of MS Access ... it is very possible that the developer version could be needed. That possibly explains why JC was able to fix it once they logged in. On the other hand, it sounds like they have a way without the developer version for you to do it ... possibly just reinstalling a corrupted file???

continued ... or after deleting a specific file ... the software automatically recreates the file making it OK once again.

JC just accesses my swipe n clean remotely and does the fix that way, so they are not using any special software. I remember them telling me that they are just deleting a file then the software re-creates it when starting, but I can't figure out which file.

If you know where the file resides and you have some time to try and do it yourself, go in and change the extension of one file (I always rename to .old) and try the software. If it doesn't work, just "Undo Rename" from the menu and go to the next one.

I probably should have mentioned this, but I tried that with every relevant file that I could think of with no luck. I must be in the wrong folder, but not sure where else to check.

Just spoke to JC and it is very easy. You just rename the .mdb in the database folder to .mdb.old and then rename the .rep file to .mdp. It then creates a new .rep file when it batches at night. Works great and was simple.

Usually when a mdb is locked and you have no ldb file you need to manually disconnect a user. But since you might be running win95 the easiest method would be to restart.

But if the JCC app gave the "locking error" it could just indicate a corrupt db also.... because it's really a generic error. Which by renaming you removed the problem.
