Does anyone use these?

$5k to build the app out, $250 per month. Wash does about 1500 cars per month, was wondering what the payback looks like.

I was going to do this, but Hamilton got back to me and let me know that my HTK needs all sorts of upgrades in order to run the software. Somewhere in the ballpark of $20k upfront. So be aware of that depending on how old your equipment is, you might be better off upgrading the HTK to something newer with the capability already built in... Like Dencar.

We use the Hamilton APP. Only thing we needed to add to our goldlines were scanners which was easy (other than drilling through stainless steel). We love the app. Not perfect for sure but very nice. I have total control of the app, can push messages to our 500+ users, and use it for marketing. I doubt you have to change software to run the app, the issue may be adding scanners and that may be more involved but ask Hamilton as no two situations are the same.

The issue we ran into is they said our HTK needs an upgraded controller and DAN system in order to work with Hosted Solutions. It already has the scanner on it.
The HTK is from 2016, which is why I was a little surprised how much they told me needed to go into it in order to make it work.

As far as our Goldlines, they need the DAN system plus, I assume, the barcode readers and maybe more in order to get them to work, because they are older and still run on dial up.

If there is a cheaper solution I would love to know about it, because I know im losing business not having a wash club when my competition down the street has one.

Ah that makes sense now as we have the DAN with HS. For a club solution you can look at EverWash. No hardware costs and fairly easy to install. You will pay about 10-15% for their service fees plus a slightly inflated CC processing fee. The system has pros & cons like any other solution. You can read about them on this forum easier than repeating them here.

I went with Touch4Wash about 3 years ago. Customers love it, as they can activate the wash without stopping at the paystation. It can be used as monthly, loyalty, etc. and communicate with customers by text. I only have mine setup as a loyalty program. They save about 10% on every wash and earn a free wash about every 10. But they like it best for the convenience of activating the wash from their phone.

I currently use $1 tokens at my SS wash, that customers can purchase with paper bills or credit/debit cards. I absorb the credit card fees. For additional convenience, I'm now looking into adding a mobile payment app system. I've talked to both Coinless and Touch4Wash. They offer the same features. Here's a quick comparison I created to share... I'm leaning towards Coinless as I was impressed with their customer service and that they use Clover. I've had 2 zoom meetings with them, and they are eager to answer any questions I have. Any additional feedback is welcomed! :)

Coinless Mobile App

https://www.coinlessmobile.com/
COINSLAYER 4 (Up to 4 other services) - $599
COINITO 1 (1 Vacuum or 1 other service) - $249

I have 10 services (5 wash bays & 5 vacuums), and need to purchase:
1 – COINSLAYER $599 each x 1 = $599
6 – COINITO $249 each x 6 = $1494 (1 for each vacuum)
TOTAL $2093 (might be negotiable)
Clover
2.85% + .20 cents / per transaction
(Clover may match current CC fees with USA)

For example - 200 transactions ($2000 / week = $57 in charges + $40 = $97 charges / week <$13 difference, less than Touch4Wash>
$69 / month with annual subscription ($828 / year). Otherwise, $83 / month ($996 / year)Offer membership plans, Loyalty programs, Fleet programs, Automated marketing, Text marketing, etc.

Each interface supports 4 functions. Since I have 5 bays + 5 vacuums, I would need 3 modules. $500 each x 3 = $1500. <$593 less than Coinless>
Jim didn’t say who their processor was. Charges
3.5% + .20 cents / per transaction

For example - 200 transactions ($2000 / week = $70 in charges + $40 = $110 charges / week
$65 / month + 5 cents per transaction (depending on wash size)

For example, 200 transactions would cost extra $10 / week - $40 / month =

$105 / month
Offer membership plans, Loyalty programs, Fleet programs, Automated marketing, Text marketing, etc.

That is an awesome comparison. Other factor to consider, Coinless was talking about integrating with Nayax at the Car Wash Show. So if you have Nayax on your bays and vacs, you wouldn't have to get the coinslayers or coinitos as I understood it. The app can turn on the functions through the Nayax. Would have to double check with Coinless that my understanding is correct.

I wonder if CryptoPay will develop and app that works with their swipers as many on the forum already have their swipers in place - if they were smart they would do so.....

Apps are definitely the future! I've talked to over a dozen of my younger-generation customers & they ONLY use apps. They're SUPER EXCITED that I'll be adding them soon!

I wonder if their antiquated hardware could even do something like that

Something else to consider with these app companies, look at their rating in Google and Apple Pay, and read the reviews. Since I posted earlier today, I found 2 other companies to research. They had advertised in the May 2022 PC&D Magazine. The mobile payment app & its customer service is an extension of your business - for good or bad! If customers are frustrated with the app, have difficulty registering their card, or getting the wash to work, it's going to reflect negatively on your car wash. Do your research! Another plug for Coinless, after each transaction, the customer has the opportunity to rate their experience, that is then sent to you. If they have a problem with the app, you should be notified very quickly. Not sure if the other apps offer that.

RATINGS IN GOOGLE PLAY:

Coinless Mobile app - 4.2 Stars on Google Play, with 10K+ downloads (252 reviews). Coinless Tech Support responded to some of the issues
PayRange (www.payrange.com) - 4.3 Stars on Google Play, with 1M+ downloads (54K reviews). Most people find the app easy to use.
Touch4wash -3.4 Stars on Google Play, with 10K+ downloads (128 reviews). Recent reviewers complain that their payments were not successful, credit card won’t work, difficulty in registering their credit card.
Uwashapp (www.washloyalty.com) - 4.1 Stars on Google Play, with 1K+ downloads (18 reviews). Recent reviewers complain about difficulties in registering their credit card and delays in using. UWash Mobile responded to most of the issues.

Hey Kimberly,

Thank you for the great comparisons of the options out there for the industry. Please be careful with the statistics with regards to app ratings, these can be misleading. For example, the 128 reviews mentioned above is less then 0.2% of users, so very very small representation. I am sure this is true of the others as well.

To answer the question, Touch4Wash does not prompt for a reviews. Not sure how the other folks handle this.

Thank you again for posting this to the group. Information is key when looking into any systems to add to your wash.

Good luck with your decision.

Hi Keno,

We're working on the integration you speak of. We've completed 1/3 parts for the integration. Currently, you can use the Coinless app to speak to Nayax devices to activate count-down services (like a vacuum that counts down after funds are added). The other two parts of the integration include the app speaking to Nayax devices managing count-up services and IBA services. The timeline on these developments is tough to guess. But we're hopeful it will be done before the end of 2022.

Let us know if you have additional questions.

Something to note on the price of the devices above: If a car wash has conduits that give easy wiring access to vacuums, you can save money by purchasing a Coinslayer 4, instead of buying Coinito 1s for every vacuum. If you don't have open conduits to your vacuums, the Coinito 1 is our solution to put the device directly in the vacuum can. The price in Kimberly's table reflects the cost of buying Coinito 1s for all of her vacuums.

Let me know if that doesn't make sense. :)

Wow...there is a lot to process on the comparison chart, and I would certainly never base an important business decision on feedback from a handful of misinformed app users.

Actually, UWashApp is a no-cost addition to our Tap-to-Pay hardware solution.

Here's our program. Our customers get Tap & App together. These are the two most preferred, secure, convenient, and cost-efficient processes available today. When you purchase the Tap hardware solution, you receive UWashApp - the feature-rich loyalty application that is customizable for any location - at NO additional cost.

That means it's FREE.

This also means you will offer every payment method available today (Google Pay, Apple Pay, card tap payments, app payments, you name it). Our 32 years of experience makes us unique; we're incomparable to any other app-based company in the car wash market.

Are your not capable of processing a very simple chart? Any negative feedback is just a misinformed app user? Strange sales approach you have.

If I go with WashCard (UWashApp), these "uninformed app users" may become my customers, so YES I do consider their feedback. If they're having problems registering their credit card, or experience delays with your wash app, I want to know that so I can make "an important business decision". While your company has been around for 32 years, your wash app came out about 2 years ago. According to GooglePlay, you have 1K+ downloads (18 reviews, 4.1 stars), while Coinless is a 3 year company with over 10K downloads (252 reviews, 4.2 stars). Maybe their app users are more informed? Attached is an updated comparison chart based on my conversation with Craig at WashCard on 6/14/22... You both offer comparable promotions (fleet, loyalty rewards, memberships), credit card charges and monthly fees. However, your equipment was 2x more expensive than Coinless. Not sure why? One of the founders of Coinless (Jared Anderson) actually owns several car washes. When he was looking for a mobile payment option for his car washes, he was disappointed with what he found so he started his own company. I'm not a paid spokesman for Coinless, just a curious operator looking for the best option for my customers and my business.
