I have an HTK with an XE validator. It is specific to the HTK and has two plug-ins on the back. One of them is not the easiest thing to plug in if you have the validator out and in your hand and nearly impossible to connect if the validator is mounted. The harness is so short that the validator needs to be in it's mounted position for it to reach. The harness can be unplugged from the cabinet and attatched to the validator before installation to make it a little easier, but not much. If it were 6" longer it would be no issue at all. My frustration stems from numerous fumbling attempts to get the validator re-installed after a jam or whatever. Just this Sunday I had to leave home because my attendant couldn't get it plugged back in after clearing a jam, only to get there and show him the magic combination to get this thing back in place. There is tons of room in there for the harness to have some extra length and slack and a longer harness or an extension could be made for just a few bucks.

I complained about it to someone at Hamilton and got an answer that pretty much said, "Yeah, we know it's a little short and can be a pain, but we ain't gonna do anything about it." Anyone else share my frustration on this?

What does the plug look like? Maybe an extension can be made. Is it a Molex like the main XE one? I've assembled hundreds of Molex plugs.

It is rectangular, about 3/8 X 1". An extension could be made and I think Hamilton should make one and offer it. Yeah, I know I could probably make one myself, but I can see me killing a half day with my machine out of service trying to run down the correct plugs etc. In Podunk, Ky. if the local Radio Shack doesn't have it there isn't much chance of finding it, especially since I don't know what to ask for without carrying in the part to show them.

Take a photo of it if you don't want to shut it down and put it up on the forum!
