I’ve thought about just keeping a loaded shotgun within reach in the pump room. Same as I do to defend my home. No carry license required and zero chance of missing the target.

I am armed everywhere that I go (that is legal to carry). Car wash is no exception.

Yes on occasion we carry a weapon at the car wash. There’s tremendous amount of responsibility with carrying a weapon. Most people who carry a weapon don’t think about the emotional trauma of having draw their weapon point it at someone and pull the trigger. It’s a split second decision and a decision that you can’t take back. When that bullet leaves your weapon you had better be 110% in the right that you’re protecting your life or the life of a loved one from bodily harm. Because that nanosecond decision will affect you the rest of your life. The trauma of taking another human life will affect for the rest of your life. You might think you’re a real badass but it will affect you. Then there’s the financial loss you’re going incur. After you call the police the next person you need to call is attorney, because you’re going to need one. Even if the shooting is justified you’d better call an attorney because the prosecutor is going to everything they can to try and put you in jail. Or the family of the scum bag you just shot is going to sue you for everything they can get. An employee of mine caught some kids stealing gas in the middle of the night, he chased them until they had the stop, and the gun he had pointed at the car went off, hit the street, ricocheted and hit the underside of the car. He was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon. He went to prison for 5 years, lost everything, his wife, his house, all the money he had in savings trying to defend himself. So if you carry a weapon you’d better be prepared to assume the responsibility that that goes along with it, not only emotionally but also financially because now you’re in the big league.

I carry half the time, my issue is it’s not easy to do any work with a pistol in my pocket

I do. I've been carrying since I was 21. I consider my area a very safe area, and where my wash is located is probably the most affluent area in the county.

I carry because....I'd rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it. Like heath and car insurance. Like wearing a helmet. Etc...

I selected "considering" just because the scheduling of the class seems to never work out for me. Although it is now legal to carry now in Ky. I still want to get certified and want to be legal when I cross state lines.

Look into an IWB (in-waistband) holster. Comfy, doesn't take up pocket room, and holds the gun tight enough to your body that it doesn't get in the way.

In Wisconsin, if you have a Hunters Safety Certificate, that will automatically comply with the concealed carry course requirements. not sure what Ky's requirements are.

We have a single IBA that is unattended, but when I go there to collect from the entry machine and vacs, a friend assists me who is armed (open carry).

I just bring my wife when collecting the cash. She is big, mean and will whip your ass if you try and take her (shopping for shoes and bags) money.
