I was also planning on enclosing teh prep area and adding a door on the entrance and the the exit side of the automatic. Currently I have no automatic doors and the winters are HARSH on the equipment. Since I have floor heat I was planning on retaining the heat for the benefit of the customers, equipment, employees and myself.

Great response. Reminds me of the TV show "Ramsey's Kitchen NIghtmares". Not only do I have 41k cars and can probably put a mini tunnel in but I am next to a gas station where people can currently pay at the pump (I worked out a deal with owner) and on the other side are 3 self serv bays (which I am considering converting one at atime to detail bays) and my 3 bay fast lube where everyone gets a free car wash.

There is competition but I am very densely populated area. Very residential and each house lot is only 25' wide. My competition does not have a gas station to help them get customers nor a fast lube to let 25-50 cpd sample the wash for free. Gas station has stacking area for approx 12-15 cars.

Plus I am in process of putting up a new sign with an approx 2' by 10' electronic message board which can speak to the 41k people.

Why do I hesitate? Cost. How much does a mini tunnel cost all in?

For the moment I have decided to continue to prep tires and wheels outside the bay. We will then brush the car with our existing big hogs hair brushes as the presoak is applied. While this will not increase my throughput it will reduce the customers wait time, reduce my employee's prep time (they have approx 70 seconds to prep before HI Pressure comes on) and still ensure a clean car. I will revisit later. Thanks again for all your input, I condsidered all of it in this temporary solution.
