Hello! I am an appraiser doing the research for a Laser Wash car wash, and have a couple of questions.

- Looking online, I found a great table published by ICA that shows regional capture rates for years 1994-2003. I was wondering if any of you are members and if the ICA has published a more up-to-date table. I know that the rule of thumb is 1/2% of traffic count; but the banks are more impressed by trade figures. I am looking for South-East figures.

- What % of per car wash price is the cost of supplies?

Thanks for any insight or help!

I will buy the book for future appraisals, but I doubt it will get here by Tuesday for this appraisal. Does anyone have any info to hold me over?

The ICA spent several hundred thousand dollars doing their studies. I think they have done a more up to date study in the last few years. Some people have an axe to grind against certain organizations and like to plug their own wares for their own profit. You can also get some of the information you asked for in various trade publications that do surveys every year. Those are volunteered surveys.

Creating my own new carwash pro-formas a few years ago I used .003% or 3/10 of 1 percent. I believe for many locations, 1/2 % may be too high a capture rate, though it would make the pro formas look super.
