I've been on the service/supply side of car washing for decades, including a fair amount of detailers, and I never knew there was an IDA. If you make up your own certification, design a logo, and post a decal in your window, it will have the same effect on your customers and won't cost $700. ;)

The detailing industry is full of hacks. I know a guy that manages a production shop and he's detailed more cars than I've washed probably but there is no quest for better. They use the same products and techniques they've been using for 30 years.


I think if you want to promote and get the SV it its not a bad idea. You can market yourself as a certified detailer.

They often have IDA skill stations at the mobiletech expos which is a good excuse for a deductible trip to Orlando and Las Vegas!
