The lighted domes on my coleman vacs are so so for sizzle with the 2 flourescent fixtures. Any ideas for making the light brighter. Of course the idea must be cheap and easy to install, run, and maintain.

What color are the domes? Blue doesn't let a lot of light through. Ours are yellow, and with two 100w equivalent CFL spiral adapters they're extremely bright.

MEP001,

How well do CFLs hold up with the all the vibrations? I've tried several styles of incandescent bulbs (rough service, garage door opener, appliance, standard) and haven't found anything that last particularly long, < 6 mos. Haven't yet tried CFLs.

Thanks.

They last about two years of being constantly lit, which is way beyond their 8,000 hour rating. I just buy them at Sam's; nothing special. If I'd been more hands-on with building the wash I would've had an extra wire pulled and hooked them to the photocell with the rest of the lighting. I'd add a photocell to each vac but there's no good place to mount it.
