IDX MA850 Coin Acceptor Coin Jams

I have 4 new Kleen-Rite long hull bay meter coin boxes with IDX MA850 coin acceptors. One of the coin acceptors continues to have coin jams. Any ideas on this as I’m not very familiar with the IDX MA850.

How exactly is it jamming? Is something (like the wires) in the way of the coins dropping through? Is the acceptor positioned in the frame correctly? Does the acceptor reject good coins?

I used to have an acceptor in the same bay jam often. I finally realized it was every Tuesday, so I checked the video. It was the same people about the same time of day every time, so I went and hung out to find out why. These same idiots were putting nickels, dimes, and pennies into it, filling the reject chute, then they would leave or move to a different bay, then someone else would come along and lose their money in it and dig out the change they could get to. So I would never have figured it out if I hadn't seen it on video.

I've had a few idx acceptors that jammed for "no reason," MEPs comment about "is the acceptor positioned in the frame correctly" was sort of the cause. Either that cheap metal springy clip that hold it in the frame wasnt good enough, or for whatever reason the acceptor wasnt closed all the way. A piece of universal solver fixed it every time. (duct tape to hold the acceptor closed tightly and in the frame.)

Thanks for the feedback. The IDX MA850 coin acceptor, after un jamming it will typically accept anywhere 10 or more coins to the coin box, then it begins to jam backing up to the coin acceptor slot.

We have the same KR meter boxes. You definitely need to make certain the wires do not block the chute or path of the coins to the vault every time you open the panel to empty the bill acceptor. May need to use zip ties to keep wires away. In 5 plus years we only had one coin backup due to a customer placing a coin with some substance on the coin.

My issue was the return slot would get lint and wet dirt at the rear slot and coins would stick and not roll forward.

I had a couple jam I found the door would open up a little and cause it. I put a zip tie around the door and haven’t had any more problems.

Yours were most likely MA-800.
