Installing Credit Card Readers

Looking into installing credit card readers. Have no idea where to start. I bought two locations in the same town last year. I own two of the three carwashes in town. The other guy has readers. Do you have to get brand new meters or can I “add” onto my existing meters? Do I go with the bank or do i talk to third party companies about it? Thinking about starting with one locations in the self service bays to see how it goes. Feedback is very appreciated. Thank you !!
 
Just add CryptoPay readers to your bays. Fairly easy to install on any meter box, $400 per box plus a controller for $400.
 
With Cryptopay you have to use their merchant processor, WorldPay. It's one of the highest in fees but it's by far the least expensive and easiest to add on. You can use it in count-down mode on any equipment or with Dixmor LED6 or LED7 timers in count up for the biggest benefit, which is allowing your customers to swipe once and wash until they're done.
 
I have Crypto with First Data. It's about 5.5% all in but that includes tunnel wash charges as well. I do't know that it's terribly high compared to other locations. For instance my Gas and Tunnel runs about 3.5% but the dollar volume is much higher.
 
So do you have to buy a “brain” for everything to be processed ? Or do you just need WiFi? Or both ? Jug did some reading

Cryptopay system requires a "Coordinator" Swipers communicate wirelessly with coordinator which is connected to the internet. A coordinator is about $400 and each swiper is $400 . I don't know the max limit for Swipers that connect to a single coordinator.
 
Has anyone ever installed a Cryptopay reader on a MEGA Vendor machine? Wondering how challenging it would be and where to add the swiper on the faceplate

Someone from Cryptopay told me, it's a lot, maybe 128.

hmm.... 50 x $400 = Just thinking out loud ... if I am allowed to... $20k+ for a smaller laundromat attached to a self service car wash + no guarantee that overall merchant fee cost will not creep up along with like Randy Nix says close to 10% tax in his state which can happen in any state of the union.

Here is how to solve the problem. Similar to what I did / am doing at the wash. Don't add readers to all machines. Add to 9 Machines. Start with higher priced ones. Put signs that say
"This machine takes credit cards" Only you know revenue per machine. If it works - great. Add more. If the use is nominal - Don't . The one major difference is laundry units are fixed price. "Count Up" is a major element for SS Bays and Vacs.

I think not being able to shop around for processing fees is the biggest issue with Cryptopay. It's the old "pay now or pay later". Also just remember that Washington state does not have income tax. In Ohio we pay around 7% total sales tax plus our income tax is between about 2-5% depending on your bracket. The government is going to get paid one way or another.

I don't look at the fee breakdown. I just take all in fees divided by sales for my cost. Now, mine are combined with the EE Tunnel ($3.50 basic wash) and it seems to be holding steady.
