I have a Jim Coleman Combo Vac/Hot Foam Carpet Shampooer and it takes spells where it won't feed soap. The solenoid seems to stick and I have to turn the needle valve way up to unstick it for the soap solution. I know its not dirt because I have installed a fuel filter before the needle valve to catch any dirt. It has a new kip solenoid valve (acts same as old one) and the solenoid is getting a full 24 VAC to turn it on. The soap solution is feed from the pump, through a needle valve & check valve to a solenoid valve. Any ideas? The check valve has also been replaced.

In the past I have removed the plunger from the sol. and clean to make it moves freely, has solved me problem.
OK, I pulled the plunger out and cleaned it and it worked which it usually does for a few days after disassembly. However there was no dirt in the valve. My question is there is very little fluid that goes through this valve. It has a couple 1/16" lines coming out of it. I have a Kip valve with 1/4" ports. Can this valve be to big causing some of the problems? Would I have more relaibility going to a 1/8" valve? I know in industry larger valves are better, but in industry you don't see kip valves.

My guess is 95% of the problems with a JCC shampooer are dirt-related. I know you said that you have a fuel filter installed, but remove the poly lines from those tiny little hose barbs near the solenoid and clean them out with a welding tip cleaner or paperclip.
Owners will also find their dirt-related problems go way down if they will take two seconds and wipe the top off with a rag before they open the filler plug to refill the unit.

Sorry, can't edit. I also assume that you hear the "click" when you push the button on the shampooer. If not, you may have a bad switch on the handle. You can jump it off and see if that is the problem. They are not waterproof and some owners clean their carpet brushes by submerging them in a bucket of water and sloshing it around. This makes the switch eventually go bad.
