Jim Coleman

I heard (while in Vegas)from a reliable source that they had an investor "prop" them up. I can't remember much more from the conversation.

It was discussed at the ICA show. I understand that the majority of Coleman was bought by a party out of Florida (can't remember who) and that Russell Coleman will remain the head of the company and they still have an ownership stake.

I do hope it improves their current operations and parts availability.

He's been in the business for quite a while. His father had a good business and when he passed away Ed took it over. He was in the right place at the right time. PDQ aparantly called him out of the blue and offered the FL distributorship and he made a lot of money at it. According to the grapevine when PDQ heard he bought Coleman they cancelled him. I knew Coleman was in trouble when I called for some parts and they referred me to one of their distributors.

Good question. I would find it interesting to see how much it sold for. Would this be public info?

From what I hear, Russ Coleman still holds 25% of the company.

Yeah, I heard the same thing.

Coleman was going gangbusters in the early 2000s. I went to a service school there around ten years ago. They didn't have a manufacturing facility, they had a manufacturing compound. It was a huge gated facility with multiple large (over 100K sq ft) buildings. If any of this was financed I could see big problems during the giant industry contraction. There is no way the SS business is paying the nut for that place now.
