What type of float switches are used for low water cut off in liquid holding tanks?
Are they N.O.? Where do you get them?

There are all kinds of float switches. It all depends on how it's used and the range in which you need it to work. I've used the small, plastic bulkhead-type that only require a hole drilled in the side of the tank, and you just rotate the switch to either float or fall to close. It can't handle any load beyond a relay coil, so it needs to be wired in through something to cut power to the bays.

Need to replace the floats in a D/H AFFB system. If you know the tank I am talking about you know how small they are.
Looking at these for replacements: http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/items/3BY70
But I am concerned about the footprint of the float, I am not sure how big these floats are and the tanks are small.

That one is pretty big and requires about a foot to operate up and down. Can you post a picture of what you have now?
You can get one similar to that from Specialty Equipment which has both the close-on-rise and open-on-rise contacts and also has much heavier contacts (rated to 20 amps). We used to use them all the time for direct control of 3/4 HP Procon motors.

Don't know how to post a picture.
The tank is 16"w, 19"h, 12" front to back, split in two, one tank for reg fb, other for affb.
The float that is in it now is round, 2.5"w x 3.5"L , #16 wire.
The pump is 1/2hp G&L. SFA 10/5.
The 3by70 float from graingers looks like it may be smaller judging by the size of the plug in comparison, don?t know for sure since you can?t really tell.
Have you seen these floats? Are they that big? Graingers has them in stock and I need by Monday.

The description of the switch you linked says normally open, and the advanced description says is closes on rise. If it plugs inline directly on the pump, that will work.
