LW4000 Booster Pump

My booster pump on my pump stand that feeds the soaps and tri colour has lost considerable pressure over the last couple of weeks. I've tried a new unloader valve and checked the check valve at the base of the manifold and all seems fine. Is there anything else to check before I make the plunge and replace the booster pump. The booster pump I have is a sta rite if that means anything and the unit is 12 years old. I'm not sure if this pump has been replaced before so it may be one of those things where it's past it's prime. Hate to drop the money on a new pump if it's maybe something else. Thanks! Kevin

The pump is probably worn out if it’s 12 years old. I can understand that you don’t want to spend any money on a piece of equipment that makes you money. What model Sta-Rite model is it? Sta-Rite makes a lot of different model pumps. You can try to rebuild it, we would replace it with a new pump.

make sure you pay the extra $ if it's your soap delivery pump get stainless you can get away with the normal cast iron one on the spot free but not the soap one. Just my two cent.

i bought a dayton booster pump from autowash maintenance to replace my sta rite once it quit.

it has been in service since 2010 with no hiccups whatsoever.

Well the pump it was. Changed it out with a new one and all is well again! Has anyone tried to rebuild a Sta Rite or does the manufacture offer a service of this nature? Hate to throw a pump away that from the outside looks as good as the new one I just installed. Thanks for your help! Kevin

I priced parts out once locally for my starite booster pump and found I could buy new pumps from Kleenrite, dultmeier etc. for less that the parts to rebuild.

If all it needs is a set of impellers, you can replace them for a lot less than a new pump, but it's one of those things where you really should replace the seal while you're in there, and after 12 years the motor is probably on its last leg, so considering you should get another 12 years of trouble-free service from a new one it's not worth fixing.
