Hello - I'm gearing up to do some maintenance on my self-serve bays with the Jim Coleman system. I've got two main tasks in mind:
  1. Greasing up the booms
  2. Giving some love to the motor that drives the Cat pumps
I'm kind of a newbie at this, so I've got a few questions:
  • What kind of grease should I use for this job?
  • When it comes to the booms, is taking off the 90-degree swivel the spot for greasing the bearings?
  • Any other sneaky spots that need a good greasing?
Thanks a bunch for your help! Appreciate any advice or tips you can throw my way.

Keep in mind that many motors have sealed bearings, and greasing them does nothing. I had a friend that greased his often, until the grease accumulated enough to get inside the motor and cause problems.

You do not grease the booms there are no bearings. There is nothing to grease on Coleman self serve systems. The motors don't need greasing either. If you want to do maintenance you can change oil on the cat pumps.
