Just thought that I would share my recent experiences with these guys. We have a 5 bay self serve with an Oasis automatic. Their salesman stopped by and promised good service, chemical, and parts availability. Well things went downhill from there. Over the course of a year their tech kept showing up late or not showing up at all. It was actually best when he didn't show, as a lot of the time he screwed things up and made them worse. The last time he was here I ended up filling a police report on him as he took parts with him that were mine. He then called me a term for a body orifice. If you are in Florida and count on these people you will regret it. Just a warning from one operator to others.

You know in a way it's kind of sad. My reasoning is that these things happen because the company thought that they could do a better job by going direct and getting rid of the distributors that helped build them in the first place. Same thing that Ryko has done. The silence from Mark VII has been deafening. Yes, we all make mistakes, even I have made a few. But a distributor either makes up for it or goes out of business. Apparently no one at corporate cares if their guys in the field do a good job. I stopped recently at a new Mark VII installation by some factory guys just to say hello. Gave them my card and said to call if they needed anything. The head guy gave me a snarky response. Not a thank you. Not a hello. Just a we don't need you, leave us alone.

Post says “Mark 7 in Florida”

“We have a 5 bay self serve with an Oasis automatic…..im not happy at all with mark 7 service”

Mark VII equipment manufacturer is a subsidiary of WashTec AG. Oasis Car Wash Systems is a different manufacturer.

So, Mark 7 must be an equipment dealer that services Oasis machine in SW Florida.

Welcome to Florida.

Shake with one hand and watch out for the other one.

Like ferreting out driveway seal coat rip-off artists, you can best protect a business by not accepting the lowest bid and dealing with licensed professionals and factory-authorized dealers and vendors.

Doing business with companies that promise lowest prices on the planet usually isn’t a good idea in Florida.

Hello Bob, In this case Mark VII was looking for a service contract to keep their guys busy. They were not the cheapest ones. They looked the place over and said they could service everything. At least the salesman said they could. He just forgot to tell the tech.

Hey Mac,

Going direct is attractive because with less equipment spending manufacturers can reduce selling expenses and eliminate practices like dealers charging for promotions, adding on broker commissions, marking up prices, etc.

Downside is manufacturer has to latch on to companies capable of providing troops on the ground to install and service equipment.

This has made it difficult to find reliable service in certain areas.

Ryko is exception because of size of service network and managed wash systems.

It just keeps getting better down here in Florida. Here is a picture of a wash that was just purchased, and the Mark 7 that is being installed in it. Yes, those really are pieces of the top brush that have come off the gantry. Sure hope the guy got a good price on it.

Well things just keep getting better here in FL with Mark 7. Here is a picture of a wash that was just purchased, and the new owner is having a Mark 7 installed. I had to look twice. This is not an old machine being taken out. It is this machine being installed.

Pictures, or it didn't happen.

Also, I don't care what your opinion of Mark VII or any other brand is, but if you are going to point out whatever you feel is deficient in their equipment, ways, or whatever, you should identify yourself as a distributor of a competing brand.

“Well things just keep getting better here in FL with Mark 7.”

Based on the new technology that is available from Mark VII, I would not install an old machine.

However, Mark VII/Wash Tec isn’t coming off a good year and missed projections. Last year, U.S. sales dropped by 3 percent and earnings (EBIT) dropped by 50 percent.

Whether VII makes a profit this year depends mostly on what happens in convenience store and gasoline segment. If some of the company’s major customers don’t buy again this year or are gobbled up by a consolidator (and lose accounts), it may be another rough year.

So, I guess any sale is a sale.

Sometimes you don’t need a picture to envision what goes on in Florida.

I’ve seen people put up a beautiful building and then fill it up with a used 20-year old conveyor system.

Then there are the convenience store owners who complaint of dry bays while they allow hucksters to put up a tent to sell waterless carwash products on site.

Or the ones that advertise “NEW WASH” but the bay is loaded an old RYKO brush rollover that has been converted into a touch-less.

How about a carwash combined with a pawn shop or one next to an adult toy store. We have that here too.

My favorite was an automatic in Southern Georgia next to a strip club that also offered topless washes on Friday and Saturday nights.

Well after two attempts I could not get the picture to post here. I would be happy to send it to anyone in an email. IB Washing, I have never made any attempt to hide the fact that I am an Istobal distributor. Just did not see the need here as it was the wash operator who stated the facts, not me. I was just laughing along for the ride.
