I just replaced the belts on two of my AE2602 MEI validators and both have given me a "bill path jammed error" Has anyone else had a similar problem? Seems odd that both have the same problem I have likely doe something wrong.

Here is a belt replacement video on youtube.com. This might help you resolve the problem

GuitarRandy & others,

That linked video seems helpful when the need arises. One thing that I would look for is anything that causes the belts to go out before other components ... possibly using a non rubber friendly cleaner or whatever?

We have both MEI 2612s & car wash rated Coinco Vantages. Over 13 total. Something to consider is when a faulty validator is sent in for repair ... it is really good when the manufacturer has a limit on cost on a rebuild which would include all wear parts. Knock on wood ... the last time I sent in to Coinco (St. Louis) in May 2014 ... they seemed to infer a flat rate. I just looked up the invoice & it was $200.19 including ground shipping one way ... so I believe that they said $90 something on the flat rate per each validator. If they were thorough enough ... that could possibly make more sense than just changing just one category of wear parts??? Randy can much more expertly than me ... weigh in on ... this approach in terms of the comparable average life of the components. I can't speak for everyone else here on the forum ... but I personally think that the increased number of ones needed because of inflation ... is causing premature failure of bill validators in general. Coin mechs are more durable & with less moving parts so if the dollar coin is eventually readily & commonly available to the public to replace the paper $1 ... I see that as a plus for our industry.

"Guita" is spanish for twine, but that would be a weird thing to use as a username.
