My Shurvend vendor has a MEI validator (with a recycler recycling the 5's). It has started intermittently "stealing" a five dollar bill. The bill is accepted, but fails to give credit. It will do this with back to back 5 dollar bills.

Ideas on how to fix?

I had the same issue. After a lot of trial and error, I finally found out that I had a faulty cable extension. After plugging the validator directly into the controller the glitch went away. I'm here in Canada with new plastic money. Mei really did a poor job of re-programming this new currency. I changed to Coin-co and they work much better. Coin-co makes a better acceptor than Mei.

Thanks for the advice. You were pointing me in the right direction.

I found a female pin inside the MDB molex connector had "widened". This caused intermittent contact with the mating pin.

It was a matter of "jiggling" a bunch of cables until I could locate the bad plug. Slightly closing the wide female molex pin appears to have solved my issue.

Thanks again.
