Is micro clean worh paying 2.5 times cost of cloth?

Cleaning not really an issue for me.

How does it last compared to cloth?

Seems to be quieter on some mitters.

So, quiet and how long it lasts are important.

Any difference in Damage issues like getting stuck on wipers, antennaes, rooof racks?

A long time ago, Bill Consolo suggested that I advise my clients on the benefits of N/S’s lambscloth washing material, the forerunner of today’s felt-like or micro-clean materials.

Bill mentioned competitive advantage from marketing wash as “autohandwash.”

He also said the material retained plenty of water and the weight created enough friction for cleaning that allowed him to turn off the mitter motors.

Benefit cost.

Washing material is like auto tires.

Hardest compounds yield high mileage, traction in rain not so great. Softest compounds grip like glue, mileage not so great.

Is there happy medium? I believe OEM’s are getting closer with the latest products.

I’ve been through a couple of washes with the new stuff and I liked it mostly because it is pretty quiet.

Don't forget - you can always mix materials. If you want the mitters quieter, you can use the micro clean only on the mitters and cloth or foam on wraps/side wheels etc. It will give you some savings and some benefit of the quieter mitters.

Dang was hoping to have some operator feedback by some who washed a couple hundred thousand cars with weach.

We switched all of our cloth over from perma color to micro clean cloth. When I say all of our cloth, I am of course referring to all of our mitters (both front to back and side to side). Typically, front to back mitters seem to have micro clean cloth but for side to side, perma color is used. The cost was MUCH higher for the micro clean cloth but I do think the cloth holds up MUCH better over time. Typically our perma color cloth is ripped out at different points from vehicles but the micro clean cloth has remained in tact other than a little fraying at the ends.
