Don't own a tunnel of any kind- I own self serve and in-bay automatics. My washes are 50 miles away from the house and so there are times when I wash my truck local. A new mini tunnel opened up near the house and it's a regional chain (about 20 locations). Decided to give them a try and purchased a package for our four cars. I don't know anything about tunnels, what chemicals work best or the processes or how this brand works. I just know what I see as we run through.
We've washed now for two months and have noticed a problem. My truck has developed a film that I can only describe as oily, slimy, sticky residue. It's so bad that I can't get it off simply by running it through my touchless automatics but I need to take it in a SS bay and go over it good with the soaps and foam brush. This film is only the result of washing it 4 times through this minitunnel. My wifes' SUV has developed the same film but she doesn't have the conflict of not coming clean in a touchless as she never travels the 50 miles to our washes. Also, if we never wash it at our washes you never notice the film. It only shows up when it's touched by either rubbing you hand across it or using a towel. The truck has chrome wheels and they're so bad that they look like they've been sprayed with thick oil.
Again, don't know anything about the process but do tunnels use chemicals that apply oils or have oil-base ingredients or even dispersion agents?
