so it would be much better if we could just have one retract for the DS and PS for each set of brushes for a total of 2 outputs for bump out/retract. Trying to get an idea if it would work out that way?

You would miss about 10 feet of coverage on each side. Unless you have another piece of equipment to cover this like high side wheels that's a lot to miss.
