Mobil 1 in Cat Pump

Hi.. Does anyone use Mobil 1 or a Synthetic in a Cat Pump? I've heard conflicting reports..

Except for non-detergent motor oil, you should not use any motor oil in a Cat pump. If you're looking to save money over Cat oil, get some ISO 68 hydraulic oil.

Well mep seems to be off on another of his rants. I have been putting 30W nondetergent oil in them for years and have never seen a problem. Since there is no combustion process going on inside a Cat pump the oil is there just for lubrication. And since the pumps don't spin nearly as fast as auto engines, most any nondetergent will do just fine.

Yeah, too many brain cells are killed worrying about pump crankcase oil. I've been using 30W ND for decades. The crankcases are almost bulletproof. Heck, I bet it would live if you poured cooking oil in it.

There's a YouTuber who tests various non-conventional products in lawnmower engines to see what happens, including bacon grease (which surprisingly worked well).
