There is no way to put up signs for everything that could happen illegally on your property. If you try it looks negative to everyone. IF carpet cleaners are dumping correctly they use a filter designed to catch all the carpet fibers and solids so they can be disposed of in the garbage. I have never seen one of these carpet cleaner trucks ever use a filter when dumping. I am told that the fibers from the carpets damage the reclaim filters if a carwash is using reclaim. City services also do not want the fibers in the sewer because of problems the fibers can cause. Established cleaning companies have their own drain systems, it is the small one or 2 truck operators who usually try to skim around the law.

Yeah, it's only taken me about 12 years to reach this conclusion also. The big mess makers don't care what your signs say, and your good customers are scared they might do something wrong. I'm always embarassed when I see a customer washing his soap suds down the drain because he thinks I'll chew him out for not cleaning up his mess. Big dilemma with me!

I've invested in 12 camera at my little 3/1 (soon to be 2/2), including 2 tag cameras. I think I'll be better off just using my cams and publicdata.com to bust the mess makers and take down the negative signage.

Where should carpet cleaning , dog grooming and car detailing effluent go besides the sanitary sewer system?

Would you feel any better if carpet trucks dumped on the ground (which they definitely do)or in a swamp (which they undoubtedly do) instead of your carwash?

Would it make you feel good to sue an individual for disposing of his effluent into the sanitary sewer system via your plumbing? Is a lawsuit really an ideal use of your limited time as a busy operator?

Some would argue that carpet cleaning trucks should find a means to dispose of grey water into the sanitary sewer system, as long as they do it properly and pay the associated costs of doing so, just like carwash owners and detail shop owners must, lest they violate the Federal Clean Waters Act.

No doubt negative signs and too many signs are a problem, and there is no doubt that few read them, BUT their true value is with the police and in court. If you have the right sign you will win. Been there a number of times and won because of the sign, which they all claimed that they didn't see or read.

One guy when caught said "you don't expect me to read your damn signs do you"? I said "No, don't care if you read them or not, but you will live by them and be writing me a check, never the less". He did.
