Need some LW 4000 help....

Hello,

I have had three "Impact errors" in the past three days with my LW 4000. It is confusing me.

1) First impact error stop with the arch parallel to the bridge on the drivers side. About 1/2 way through the vehicle. The error:

Automatic Trouble Mode- Low Press Soap State-Brdge Rev Cycle - 3 Reason - Impact SW Hit

2) Second impact error occurred twice on my vehicle. The spray arch turned early during the front pass. Scraped the side of my vehicle. Once the Laser Minder software realized there was an impact corrected itself and finished the wash. Two times this happened that night to me. It happened to customers as well causing $1400 in damage.

3) The third just happened. The arch stopped half way on the passenger side and tried to turn through the vehicle. Here is the error:

Often the bridge will over run the vehicle and go to the end of the bay as well. The Tbar eyes were checked at the beginning of Feb. by Scott P and seemed good.

I have had the following done recently:

All Proxes checked and new X30 cable run two weeks ago by Woltco.
New RY33 Relay last week
Tires lbs. and Greased to spec.
New PDQ bridge installed last May.
New manifold weldement
Sheer Pin changed every 2 months
Ultrasonics recalibrated in January.

Thoughts??

I know this may sound stupid but have you checked the flags in the bridge itself not the flags on the rails, it could be loose or need to be replaced if rusty. Could be as simple as adjusting them so the arch goes a little past each corner of the front end on a car or right on the side. Just my 2cents.

Well we replaced the x30, left limit switches and the drivers side ultrasonic. Everything else looked good. Hopefully we are on an upward slope.

Have you tried sparing out the 24CX22, 24CX23, and 24CX24 wires on the Trolley's Blue Festoon Cable? They should be wires 1, 2, and 3 respectively. If the wires have a break inside the cable then they can have power applied incorrectly to the X22, X23, or X24 causing the arch to turn at the wrong points. I recommend using an outdoor extension cord with the ends cut off to replace wires 1, 2, and 3 on the Blue Festoon Cable. A 25 foot cable should be enough. Just run it beside the trolley's festoon cables from J3 to J4. Connect the wires in place of the Blue Festoon Wires. If the problem goes away, you need to replace the blue cable. If not try sparing the yellow cable between J2 and J3 on wires 1, 2, and 3. You will need a 50 foot cable for this run. If this solves the problem then you have a break in the yellow cable. The good news if either of these fixes the issue is that it gives you time to get the needed festoon cable. The car wash can run a couple of years this way, it just looks cheap. If you use a black drop cord it is less noticeable.

I have an inverted L machine (superior not pdq) and here is how i would troubleshoot:

1. check the input card (on the gantry on mine) for an input when there should not be one (indicated on my input card by a small light). If you know which inputs correspond to sensors (i.e.; input #6 is travel rear or rear ultrasonic), you can tell if an input is present when it shouldn't be.

We continue to adjust. Yesterday I had a recycling bin blown out of the bed of a pick up and end up getting wedged between the Tbar and VT eye pedestal breaking the Tbar. That was pretty annoying. We noticed the left limit flag was a bit off. That was adjusted. We have not spared the wires yet. Hopefully we have nailed the issue. Thanks for all of your help!
