There are some wash sites that need more security than others, so an extra layer of steel expanded metal has been designed into the security cage. We did this at the request of one of our customers and, frankly, I was not too enthusiastic about the looks. We had used expanded metal for security way back in our early days and I didn't like it; to hard to see the products through the vendor window.
In this new design you have the standard acrylic and lexan security in the cage with the window retainer/expanded metal design becoming one piece. The extra lighting in the vendor makes it look aesthetically pleasing and easy to see the selections in the columns. It adds another layer of "intimidation" to those that go around trying to breech the window of the vending unit.
Competitors have been using bars for added security in similar vending units for many years. I never was very happy with that solution, so never designed anything like that. This new design has a subtle security enhancement which I had not expected. It may be well worth it to operators that have difficult security issues.
